Pastor's conference to feature a "sacred Christian cross lighting" — only white Christians invited

Alabama's ABC 33/40 news reports that mayor of Winfield has asked city employees to help remove fliers which went up last night advertising an annual pastors' conference.  The news station reports that the fliers invite only white Christians to a 3-day event beginning on the 4th of July.  It will end with "a sacred Christian cross lighting ceremony."

The conference is sponsored by the Church of God's Chosen, a Christian Identity Ministry.  The Birmingham News quotes the organizer of the event as saying that his church "is not a hate group."

    Don't blame the Klan, that is just speculation. This is, according to the poster, a Pastors conference but, of course, for Whites only. Well, White Christians. Welcome to 2012, yeah religion.

      "Whites Only" and cross burning spell racist Klan members, who call themselves Xians. Think about it. Surely you aren't that naive, to insist that one not blame the Klan and call it speculation when one does. What do you think a White Supremist group is? That is what Xian Identity group is- a White Supremist group, much like the Klan. Might as well be one in the same IMO. You can't blame the religion either, because not all Xians are racists, in fact, some believe it a sin to be racist, so… Don't blame the religion.

        I'll repeat, pastors conference, whites only. This is not even for
        church members; just the pastors, or leaders. Exactly who should be held
        accountable if not them?

        I understand just fine. I understand a Kentucky church banning interracial couples, I understand church members applauding a six year old singing homophobic songs and I understand the Catholic church trying to have someone arrested for pointing out water dripping from a leaky pipe onto a wooden cross is not a miracle. I could list many more examples of hatred, intolerance and bigotry from church after church but I don't think you are listening.

      I don't know what's wrong with the site or my comp, but comments are bleeding into the blogtalk/Feedjit area.

      Anyway, as I said, IMO, this is just one more example of such hatred, in this case for people of color.
