According to GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum, President Obama is a snob for wanting people to be able to afford higher education. On the campaign today, Santorum told his audience:
President Obama once said he wants everybody in America to go to college. What a snob! {Laughter and applause from the audience.}
There are good, decent men and women who go out and work hard every day and put their skills to test that aren't taught by some liberal college professor trying to indoctrinate them. {More applause and cheering from the audience.}
Oh, I understand why he wants you to go to college. He wants to remake you in his image. I want to create jobs so that people can remake their children into their image, not his. {More applause.}
Santorum has complained about the "liberal indoctrination" that colleges provide throughout his campaign, telling an audience in Florida that universities are diminishing Judeo-Christian faith in America. He reiterated these sentiments on the Glenn Beck show yesterday, per a report by the Huffington Post.
The Huffington Post also reports that Santorum's wife, Karen, said that he is running for president because it is God's will:
"I did always feel in my heart that God had big plans for Rick," she said. "Eventually it was there, tugging at my heart. … When Obamacare passed, that was it. That put the fire in my belly."
