Evangelical Lutheran Church Will Accept Non-Celibate Gay Clergy
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which is the United States' largest Lutheran church, voted yesterday to allow sexually active gays and lesbians who are in committed relationships to serve as clergy.
Currently, celibate gays and lesbians are may serve as ministers within the church. 68% of the leadership approved of the change. CNN reports that the church has not addressed recognizing same-sex marriage or civil unions.
