Feeling deeply ashamed for the conduct of the German people and feeling personally guilty for his father's conduct as a Nazi, a Miami doctor converted to Judaism. He also joined the Israeli army.
Later, when he opened up his medical practice in Miami, he self-published a book called A German Life which he displays in his office to help people understand. He feels that he has atoned for his father's mistakes.
Some Holocaust survivors have embraced him, helping him feel that he has bridged a gap that shows that not all Germans are bad.
