In this chapter, Jacob (aka Israel) talks to his sons and identifies what would eventually become known as the 12 Tribes of Israel. This first listing differs from other passages in the Bible (see the Discussion Points below). Jacob then dies.

Discussion Points.
You can read the King James' description of the characteristics of the 12 Tribes here. As noted in the skeptic's annotated version, there are discrepancies in the descriptions of the twelve tribes. Notably, the following are missing in other parts of the bible:
- Simeon
- Levi
- Dan
- Nephtali
- Manasseh
Were the twelve tribes of Israel black? Egyptians were a dark-skinned race, clearly depicted in heiroglyphs and archaeological findings. Joseph, according to the previous stories in the bible, was not recognized by his brothers when they went to Egypt for food. If he was a white man, he would have stood out and would have been recognizable.
The African presence is still visible in Israel today.
The Egyptians depicted the Hebrew people of biblical times as black, as shown in the heiroglyphs below.
