Gay people not allowed to attend church service promoting repeal of Fair Education Act

Anti SB-48 church rallySpearheaded by the Family Research Council (FRC), churches are uniting to challenge  the California Fair Education Act which would include homosexual history.   FRC President Tony Perkins recently issued a video advertisement urging Californians to visit StopSB48.com and sign petitions for a ballot referendum to overturn the law.  750,000 petitions need to be signed before the end of September if the referendum is to appear on the November ballot.

Last week, Equality California (EQCA) edited Perkins' pitch for petition signatures, interjecting commentary about where Perkins misrepresented the facts.

Meanwhile, the petition is being promoted at church meetings where, as shown in the following news clip, gay people are not welcome.  Gay persons and a Rabbi supporting S.B. 48 who simply wanted to listen were asked to leave a church event at a Los Angeles Baptist church.  Pastor Xavier Thompson of SO Mission Baptist Church told reporters at KTLA 5, "This is not about hating anyone or being homophobic or being guilty of bigotry. The fact of the matter is that we believe you cannot sexualize history."
