British Channel 4 announced that it will be airing a controversial comedy movie about a group of stupidly inept Muslim suicide bombers as part of broadcast activities to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11 terror attack on the U.S.
According to a Daily Mail report, the movie called Four Lions, is a 2010 comedy by Chris Morris. Channel 4 will show the movie a few days before the 9/11 memorials. According to inside sources in Channel 4, Chris Morris had pushed to have the movie shown on the day of the 9/11 anniversary but authorities at Channel 4 resisted.
The movie is a "black comedy" about a group of home-grown British terrorists who stupidly bungled their way through a plan to kill thousands of people at the London Marathon. Channel 4 will show the comedy along with factual documentaries including a reconstruction documentary about the killing of Osama Bin Laden by U.S. Navy Seals.
Jay Hunt, chief creative officer at Channel 4, revealed the plan to show the movie at the Edinburgh Television Festival. Jay Hunt said:
I’ve just had an interesting and rather robust conversation with Chris Morris about Four Lions and the scheduling of that and how close it is to 9/11.I think we should absolutely continue to push those boundaries. It is going out in the next week-and-half or so. It is not going out on 9/11 itself because we have got a lot of other programming. But it is around then because it speaks to that issue.’
