Church's Volunteer Leader Charged with Child Rape

They did not see it coming.

Members of the New Beverly Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, were stunned to learn that Randall Thomas Hollifield was arrested for child rape and sexual exploitation of a minor. A computer that was seized from Hollifield's home had more than 3,000 sexually explicit pictures involving children. The rapes allegedly took place in his home.   Bond was set at $125,000.

Hollifield grew up in the Baptist church and members had known him for 30 years, never suspecting his criminial behavior.   He was a volunteer youth leader and some of the victims allegedly were part of the church's program.

Neighbors were also shocked, characterizing Hollifield as a person who would jump to anyone's aid.   They had given him a key to their home, trusting him to feed their pets on occasion when they were away.

  1. That really is sick and gross. I mean there are so many people who really look up to someone with that sort of leadership, and for him to do that to children and yet still act like he is a leader of their religion is wrong.
