Roswell, New Mexico, allotted $150,000 in tax monies to organizers of the annual Roswell UFO festival scheduled to coincide with the alien spacecraft crash alleged to have occur in July 1947. While organizers say that they are below budget and plan to keep it that way, they have also had to cancel some events due to lack of interest.
Only three people signed up for the "light parade," so it's been cancelled. So has the alien cooking competition. Part of the problem is conflicting events in nearby towns, organizers say.
Nonetheless, the International UFO Museum, which is chairing the event this year, says a fantastic festival is in store with a slate of speakers, music acts, and costume competitions.
The Roswell UFO event attracts an international following.
