Jacob is deceived by his uncle Laban in this chapter and ends up doing a lot of "going in to." He meets his cousin Rachel at a well and immediately falls in love. In order to marry her, he promises his uncle Laban that he will work seven years for her. At the end of seven years, Jacob asks Laban for Rachel, they have a party, and then Laban gives Jacob his older daughter, Leah, who Jacob "goes in onto." He doesn't realize until the next morning that he was tricked into having Leah instead of Rachel. So per Laban's instructions, Jacob fulfills Leah for a week and is then given Rachel, too, and has to work another seven years for Laban. Married to the sisters, Jacob becomes a father to four boys who Leah bears. God closed off Rachel's womb because Jacob didn't like Leah.

Talking Points.
Not only does Jacob marry two sisters, but they are his cousins. It's pretty shocking that he did not realize that he was having sex with Leah … It must have been quite the party that Laban threw! Here's the King James Version, with annotations.
