The fighting between Esau and Jacob, the twins who were born to Isaac and Rebekah, continues. In this chapter (the King James text can be read here), Rebekah helps her favored son Jacob deceive his father and receive the blessing which would have otherwise gone to Esau.

Since only one blessing could be given that carried the power of God, it would seem that God, too, was deceived by Jacob and Rebekah. On the other hand, since other verses indicate that the relationship between Esau and Jacob was predestined, then maybe God made the trickery happen in the first place. After all, God hated Esau for no apparent reason. In any event, there's a lot of lying that has been going on so far in the bible. What are the moral values here?
