American Family Association's Bryan Fischer Thinks Blasphemy Should Be Penalized

censorship and blasphemyBryan Fischer of the American Family Association says there is no reason that society cannot enforce laws against blasphemy, which would include misusing the Lord's name or taking the name of God in vain.

Citing penalties imposed on sports figures and others who used the "F" word, anti-gay slurs and profanities publicly, Fischer thinks that these penalties should be expanded to include blasphemy.

Blasphemy laws are still part of a number of states' legal codes; however, they are unenforceable because they are unconstitutional.

Sounds like Xian Sharia to me. I guess this means I can't talk about Casper the Holy Ghost? Gee, they really know how to take the fun out of life, don't they?

Blasphemy will be penalized, but not by a court of law.

Um, am I the only one to notice that 'we' didn't do any of the things this un-American fascist says 'we' did? 'We' didn't saction anyone, their employers did, and for their own reasons. The state cannot limit free speach and it's much more important than the hurt feelings of deluded fundies. Grow up.

Fischer doesn't get it that these penalties had nothing to do with public law … but I am assuming that he wants the Constitution amended so that free speech is no longer legal.
