Ray Comfort: Atheists Are the Criminal Offspring of Adam

Before heading off to Israel, Ray Comfort of Living Waters penned a blog post about "the revival of the senselessness of atheism."

Quoting Isaac Newton as saying ""Opposition to godliness is atheism in profession and idolatry in practice. Atheism is so senseless and odious to mankind that it never had many professors," Comfort wrote that atheists practice "reverse idolatry' by identifying the Biblical god as "a judgmental, homophobic, unloving, wrath filled, merciless tyrant" instead of a loving God.

He concluded that atheists are the criminal offspring of Adam and that "crimes against God" such as non-belief are "engraved with the point of a diamond upon our conscience, whether we believe in the existence of God or not. On the Day of Judgment God’s Law will seek it out and we will be punished with a life sentence, without parole."

Comfort provided a flow chart to demonstrate his point:

It really amazes me to see the intensity of HATRED floating freely unchecked in religious circles for atheists…religious people tend to think that professing belief in God is the ultimate virtue and the greatest righteousness possible even if such profession is accompanied with HATRED for those who disagree..

And they call it love and correct us when we call them on it.

I am deeply concerned for their children.

The irrational phenomenon of `faith´ only exists in group-think. No sane individual within their own mind could possibly believe in such nonsense. Those who don´t partake in the psychosis are thus perceived as smashing the fragile structure of consensus which maintains the comfort zone of self delusion.

As FFRF is running its 'coming out' campaign, we're running whatever stories we can find to point out how absolutely absurd the views about atheists are.

I look forward to a day that irrational thinking and bigotry is gone.

I look forward to that day too, but I doubt it will happen in our lifetime.

Actually Blacks, Gays and Women made huge progress during my lifetime so it's possible.

We've (atheists) made progress. We don't have to fear burning at the stake. At least as of this moment in Florida, although they are working feverishly to turn this state into a theocracy. So the burnings may make a comeback.

I don't worry much about Florida. The global warming they don't believe in should eliminate that problem… rising sea levels and increased storm actvity will wash America's dick right off the map.

I agree with NoSacredCow, we may see very radical changes in a matter of decades if the liberals go out with the message of tolerance with greater evangelical zeal…

Aah Ray Comfort. Founder/President/CEO of Living Waters Publications
Yes religion is a business. Ray is protecting his business by using the usual circular reasoning that is used by all of the religionist con men.
Ray can't sell books if there isn't a boogie man for people to be afraid of. Atheists and Muslims are the targeted boogie men.
Atheists are more acceptable because Muslims believe in an imaginary friend. MAybe not the same imaginary friend but one all the same.

What … the flow chart didn't convince you? LOL.

      • Matt begley

Let me get this straight, their omnipotent God "tries to save bad humans" but can't??? And this same God supposedly created these "bad humans"… so much for an omnipotent being. I'll take my chances with reality thank you very much.

      • raprap

if he only used bright colors for the chart, i would have been TOTALLY convinced.

  • Sam Salerno

Since the Muslims have a similar flow chart That means we're all going to hell. So can we stop the dumb shit now.

    • http://www.houseofbetazed.com Mriana

There you go. That is a great example of my point. They are all human concepts, right down to the concept of hell. Good answer, Sam. :)

Banana man never did talk an atheist is he thinks that. It seems to me that he needs to learn that he is just as wrong about what he is saying as he was concerning what he said about the banana. It's not that I think his god is this or that, its that I have no god concept of my own. He can believe whatever he wants to believe, but the bottom line is that his idea of a deity is a human concept. Not to mention, while he may claim the label of Xian, Xians have different concepts of a deity. Meanwhile the Xian that does not hold the same concept is not a Xian to the person with that concept. For example, I bet you, if you were to ask him if he thought Bishop Spong is an Xian, he'd probably say no because of the different god concepts. So um… yeah. Whatever. I think it's better not to have any god concept at all than to ascribe to one that is created by humans.

Banana Man, I forgot about that. THanks for the chuckle.

Yeah Comfort went to the same clown college as Kirk Cameron. Well actually Comfort didn't go to school on the set of Growing Pains (Cameron's only formal schooling, his wiki page says he graduated on the set with high honors. LOL out of a class of 3.) Actually Comfort and Cameron both finished school at 17 if I'm not mistaken.

I guess that explains their entire world view.

    • http://www.houseofbetazed.com Mriana

Well if they finished school at 17 and never went any further, then that explains it all.

UGH! Just checked out Kirk's website and I just felt nausea.

I challenge this moron as I have challenged countless other theists to prove his points. Prove there is a god or else prove that Thor, Ra, Zeus, Aphrodite, or any of the others do not exist.

So far, not one has done it. Very few have even tried. The normal response it to ignore the question and continue to preach their nonsense.

Ray Comfort is a typical christian idiot. He never tries to furnish independently verifiable proof of his ravings and never responds to requests for it.

Most of the problems of the world are, and always have been, caused by religion. For example, Northern Ireland, the Middle East, 9/11, and family planning clinic bombing in the USA. Then there were the crusades, the inquisition, witch burnings, and the dark ages. Get the idea?

Humanity will never truly be free until the black yoke of religion is lifted by the clear light of truth and rational thinking.

Banana man is such a sad little guy… someone should point out that his flow chart has an important flaw, if a god created good humans how does it come that good and perfect humans chose to be "bad"… looks like we got a crappy source code..

  • Tim

"..we will be punished with a life sentence, without parole." What a loving god.

    • Wade

      Loving AAAAAND Just.

      • Deborah_B

What, the flow chart didn't activate the "diamond in your conscience" and turn you into a believer?
