Stuff To Talk About …

Lying to others is righteous if God like you.   This is the second time in the book of Genesis that Abraham (formerly known as Abram) lies about his relationship with Sarah (formerly called Sarai), and the innocent person and his country are punished. The first lie was in Genesis 12, when Abram lies to Pharoah and God sends plagues on Pharoah for believing Abram's lie.

We constantly hear about how the bible instills moral values in our "Christian nation."   What is the moralist value in this?

The Bible condones incest. Later in the chapter, Abraham admits that not only is Sarah his wife, but she is also his half sisister.   So in in this and the previous chapter, the bible condones incestuaul relationships amongst the "righteous" people.   Lot's daughter rape him and get pregnant.   Abraham marries his half sister.
