5 Stars A GREAT BOOK!
I read this book along side "SURPRISED BY TRUTH" (free from Catholic answers radio show, thanks!) and "BORN FUNDAMENTALIST BORN AGAIN CATHOLIC". My goal was to be as fair and open minded as possible. I went over every area of concern point by point, book by book. Communion, the Pope, Justification, Mary, Baptism etc. Looking at each book and comparing.

After much prayer and careful consideration I realize now more than ever that I am a Bible Christian. I have also concluded that Catholics and Prtestants are brothers and sisters in Christ. It's a fact that many people leave the Catholic church to find spiritual fulfillment. It happens all the time. It is also a fact that protestants leave their Churches to join the Catholic faith to find spiritual fulfillment. Why does this happen? This is what inspired me to read both sides.

I think we over complicate our faith. I believe our mission is rather simple "…to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind; and to love our neighbor as ourselves."

5 Stars Very informative and factual
I grew up Catholic and my mother is a devout Catholic. My brother claims to be Catholic although he does not attend church. I began attending a non-denominational church in 2001 after being born again with the guidance of friends and the Holy Bible. I have looked for a book such as this one concerning the Catholic views and doctrines. This book is very informative and these are facts. There is a difference between the Holy Bible and the "gospel of Rome" and only one can be true. It is definitely possible to know that you will be in heaven for eternity and I grew up knowing that I could never be sure. If you are a Catholic and read this book, read it with an an open mind and then do the research. It hurts me deeply to know that so many are being misled and do not truly understand. I definitely recommend this book to Catholics and non-Catholics. Right now it is impossible for me to discuss these issues with my family, but I want be able to cite this book if I will ever get the chance to speak of these things with them and have them listen. Pray that God will let you know the difference and the truth.

5 Stars Outstanding, Truthful, Balanced, Reliable
I have read several books on the subject of Roman Catholicism from the Biblical perspective. In my opinion, this is the single best book on the subject because it clearly, thoroughly, and accurately compares Roman Catholic doctrine to Biblical truth. This book is written for the truth seeker, Catholic or non-Catholic. The format is excellent in comparing side-by-side Biblical Scripture and Roman Catholic doctrine. Catholic doctrine is cross-referenced with excerpts from the Catechism of the Catholic Church so that the reader can read directly what the Roman Catholic Church says about its own doctrines. The author has a solid grasp of both Roman Catholic doctrine and Biblical truth. The material is clearly presented in a very interesting and highly understandable way.

5 Stars Excellent book comparing the Catholic and Evangelical beliefs
Very good book if you want to understand the differences between the Catholic and Evangelical faith. I was raised Catholic and was born again few years ago. Until reading this book I never really understood the key differences between the Catholic and Evangelical beliefs.

As I read through the book I could relate to a number of the passages and examples from the Catholic church.

I would recommend this book if you want to get an insight on how the Catholics approach the Church, the Bible, Mary's virginity and assumption, etc.

5 Stars Very fair
This book was recommended to me by a friend who used to be Catholic and ended up becoming Protestant (not because of this book!) Yes, there are lots of people who do that– who change churches, and there is nothing wrong with that– it is called freedom of thought. I liked this book because a) it is very careful to document the official positions of the Catholic church, not engage in hearsay or statements of fringe crazies that every movement has, b) it focuses on the theological issues, which are the real issues, not dwelling on past crimes or accusations of who sinned against who more, and c) he presents the Catholic view clearly, without any commentary, for the first 2/3 of each chapter, before taking the past 1/3 to argue against it. That way you can clearly see what the Catholic position is. In fact, that is the strongest argument. The arguments at the end of the chapters may not convince some people, and in some cases disagree with standard Protestant teaching, but laying out the Catholic positions leads you to say "Can I really believe that?" From my own study of the Catholic church I can tell you that the statements of what the Catholic church teaches are accurate.

These days many people are leaving the Catholic church and going to pure atheism or pagan spirituality. It seems to me that often this is because they assume Catholicism is the "most pure" form of Christianity, so if it is not credible, then other forms of Christianity must be also, as just watered down versions. I encourage such people to take a look at this book to see where Catholicism differs from historic Christian teaching by a large segment of the church, and consider conservative Protestantism. Protestants did not leave because they wanted to make things up; they left because they felt the Catholic church was making things up, and wanted to get back to the Bible.
