Bible narrator Chelev has a good time reading this chapter.
Here we have the story of a talking and walking serpent convincing Eve to eat a piece of fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. When they get caught, Adam blames Eve, who in turn blames the serpent. Everyone is punished: man has to labor for listening to a woman, women have to suffer through painful childbirths, and the snake has to slither around instead of walking about. All of humankind is punished for the actions of these alleged people from thousands of years ago.
Adam and Eve are kicked out of the Garden of Eden because the LORD God is worried that the human couple will "become like us" and eat from the Tree of Life so that not only will they have have the knowledge of good and evil, but they will become immortal.

Discussion.
- Why do people say Eve at an apple? There is no mention of an apple here.
- Did all snakes talk back then?
- People say that the serpent was the devil; yet, this chapter of Genesis makes no mention of a devil or Satan.
- Did all serpents (snakes) lose their ability to walk around after this incident, or just the bad one? Were the rest wiped out in the flood?
- The King James version reads at 3:8: " And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden." Was the LORD God an incarnate being?
- Genesis 3:15, "… will put enmity … between thy seed and her seed" has been interpreted by a minority of Christians to mean that Eve had sex with the snake, creating the "Cain" offspring. This disputed interpretation is known as the "serpent seed" theory, discussed at Wikipedia.
- Why create these trees in the first place? Also, here we are back at the "us" reference again in the King James Bible: 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever."
