Schlafly: Not Enough Christians are Being Reproduced Because of Powerful Population Control People

Phyllis SchlaflyThe American Family Association's "Today's Issues" program yesterday featured Phyllis Schlafly, the religious right's anti-feminist icon, as their guest.  The conversation eventually turned to environmentalism and population control.

Willy of Richmond, VA, called in to ask, "God gave us love and liberty to all people, not just the people who agree with President Obama.  And I believe the people who are running the Democrat party are the worst kind of population control freaks and I hate to use that word but, and I believe that's why they promote abortion and they teach people to love animals and hate people and you've got so many young women in this country who think they don't want to have babies…"

"Willy is certainly correct," Schlafly responded.  " There are powerful people in this country, including some in the Obama administration, some in the government, some in the media, who are population control people. They really want to worship the earth instead of God and they want to make people subservient to serving and preserving the earth.  Now, God allows us to be the stewards of the earth and we're supposed to take good care of it, but we've got to get our priorities in order.  We worship God, not the earth.  The population control people have been very effective.  The reproduction rate of people in this country — and particularly of Christians — has been below replacement level.  I'm glad I have six children and they are great children."

    that was inane.

so really, we should be having lots of unprotected sex so we can get pregnant as much as possible? maybe they should promote unprotected sex instead of the less controversial side of the coin – lots of children.

cause ya gots to have sex before you can have children.

    makes my head hurt.

    • Actually, I think these people promoting Christian patriarchy where they get married, do not practice birth control and have 6, 12 or more kids. The Duggars were honored a few months ago by the Family Research Council for their media work as a good Christian family.

This is something that seems to be emerging more and more from the Christian right.

  • Birdie

Phyllis Schlafly is proud of all her 6 kids? Including the one that's gay? Yup, THERE'S a guy reproducing – NOT!!

    • Really? I didn't know one was gay … . Do you have a citation to back this up? I know Sally Kern, the Oklahoma legislator who has proclaimed that gays are more dangerous than terrorists, has a gay son.

      • majii

I think Birdie is correct. I remember reading about him on Right Wing Watch. This is something that Schafly never mentions.

        • I'm going to have to research this and write an article about right wing anti-gay people with gay kids. Thanks so much for these tips!

      • Kivahut

Satan oops! I meant Schlafy has a hard time admitting it.

    Good old Repug mama Bush, mother of the village idiot stated;

"Sometimes, when I look at my children, I say to myself, 'BARB you should have remained a virgin." -BARBARA BUSH (mother of G.W. BUSH)

Although there may be powerful people who may promote population control, people are still free to follow or not what is being promoted.
And as I can very well imagine people living with or without God, I have a very hard time imagining people living without a planet, preferably the earth, at least until we find another suitable one.
The likely outcome is that Christianity will have to evolve to attract adults, which is probably harder than attracting children.

  • honeybabe

does that mean that all the children born of rape or incest should become conservative republicans? i think that is a bit of a stretch.

    • Yes, except in the event of 'forcible rape,' in which case they can either be aborted or become liberals.

The religious right rarely discusses rape and incest except to say that victims should have babies anyway because the fertilized eggs, not the women, are more important. The typical phrase they cite to justify this way of thinking is "two wrongs don't make a right."

There seems to be a disconnect between reality and a 1890s type of patriarchal family with 13 or so children.

  • Oh my! They have lost their minds. Have they met the Quiverfull people? No one is controlling them. And what is wrong with loving and taking care of the home we live on, the only home we have?

    • Kivahut

      Birthin' them babbeez for Jeezus!

      • Why Mz Scarlett, I don't know nuttin' about birthin' no babies.

  • Anti-zionist-Yeshua-Freak

Unless you are born FROM ABOVE, you can not see the Kingdom of Yahwey…..

Mrs.Schlafly is a "Christian-Zionist", and a promoter of the NWO, without knowing it.

The thing is, Paul said that even if one who is born FROM ABOVE is mistaken in their understanding, of anything, they are still our spiritual brethren. I would rather that they had a full understanding of the truth in all matters, but I'll have no fellowship with the workers of darkness who are still blinded by Lucifer's lie.

I listened to a female East Indian Comedienne, a Mrs. Gumpta, and she was hilarious, but her bottom line was that they are having as many children as possible to subvert the nice Christian countries that let them in in the first place. "We're just pumpin em out baby", was her tag line.

Why shouldn't we have lots of children? There is enough room and food on this planet, if only the greedy would quit trying to horde it all for themselves.

If you doubt, you are already lost.

    I love you all!

    Yeshua is Yahwey!

Is the Proposed Trans Global Highway a solution for population concerns and global warming? Perhaps. One tremendous solution to future population concerns as well as alleviating many of the effects of potential global warming is the proposal for the construction of the "Trans Global Highway". The proposed Trans Global Highway would create a world wide network of standardized roads, railroads, water pipe lines, oil and gas pipelines, electrical and communication cables. The result of this remarkable, far sighted project will be global unity through far better distribution of resources, including including heretofore difficult to obtain or unaccessible raw materials, fresh water, finished products and vastly lower global transportation costs.
With greatly expanded global fresh water distribution, arid lands could be cultivated resulting in a huge abundance of global food supplies. The most conservative estimate is that with the construction of the Trans Global Highway, the planet will be able to feed between 14 and 16 Billion people, just using presently available modern farming technologies. With a present global population of just under 7 billion people and at the United Nations projection of population increase, the world will produce enough food surpluses to feed the expected increased population for the next 425 years. Thomas Robert Malthus's famous dire food shortage predictions of 1798 failed to take into consideration modern advances in farming, transportation, food storage and food abundance. Further information on the proposed Trans Global Highway can be found at http://www.TransGlobalHighway.com .

  • Six babies is just way too many babies. Of course there are women where I live who brag about having four babies and I think that is too many. Two seems more than enough for me and besides, the world is getting awfully crowded as is. I cannot comprehend why anyone would want so maybe children in this day and age. Besides, despite it being 19 years since I had my second and last child, I still remember the PAIN of childbirth. That much pain with both my sons, along with having complications we had, was more than enough to keep me from wanting three. Why any woman would put themselves through so much pain more than twice, is also beyond me. That has nothing to do with worshipping the earth or a god though. Population control in general has nothing to do with earth worship either. This woman doesn't have a clue what she is talking about when she makes such statements.
