Is it a violation of the Constitution to take away custody rights based on religious faith … or lack thereof? And why are people so upset about about the "You Know It's a Myth" billboard sponsored by the American Atheists?
Join the live talk on God Discussion on Thursday, December 2, at 6:00 PM Pacific time (access details and time zone clocks are at the end of this article).
Agnostic Father Loses Joint Custody Because He is Not a Christian.
10. Further evidence indicated that the Petitioner/Father did not participate in the same religious training that the Respondent/Mother exercises and that the Petitioner/Father was agnostic.
12. At the time of the Property Settlement Agreement, the Petitioner/Father considered himself a Christian and the parties were able to communicate relatively effectively.
Craig, a Navy veteran and health care worker, appealed the ruling but it may be some time until a decision is rendered.
In the meantime, a rally in support of religious tolerance will be held at the Madison County Courthouse on Thursday, December 16, where parents of minor children who do not want a government official mandating their religious preference will demonstrate.
Helping to promote the rally is Stuart Showalter, Executive Director of
Indiana Custodial Rights Advocates. His organization has taken a keen interest in this case. Stuart will join the discussion to share the Advocates' position and related cases in Indiana that involve religion and custodial rights.
You KNOW It's a Myth. This Season, Celebrate Reason — A Look at Christmas' Roots.
In the second segment of the show, which should begin about 45 minutes into the program, we will take a look at the controversies surrounding the claim that Christmas is a Christian holiday.
The American Atheists' billboard on the New Jersey side of the Lincoln Tunnel is, like many other billboards that challenge religious belief, stirring up controversy.
Joe Zamecki, Texas State Director of American Atheists, will talk about his organization's billboard that is the subject of debate and anger, as well as some strange billboards popping up around the Austin area, such as National Day of Prayer signs appearing months before the scheduled event. Other topics will include the Atheists Helping the Homeless program and why the Christmas story is a myth predicated on pagan beliefs. For fun, Joe will share his bullet list about the similarities of Santa and Jesus.
Acharya S (aka D.M. Murdock) is a scholar classically educated in archaeology, history, mythology and languages. Her popular books and videos explore the mythology behind numerous religious beliefs and practices. An expert in astrotheology's ties to contemporary faith-based celebrations and rituals, Acharya will reveal the fascinating truth about the winter solstice and Christmas mythology … proving that the American Atheists are correct when they say the holiday was not created with the birth of Jesus.
