Learning the Tarot is a complete course on how to use the tarot cards for personal guidance. The 19 lessons in the course cover the basics and then move gradually into more advanced concepts. Exercises and sample responses for each lesson help you learn and practice. For simplicity, only one easy layout is used throughout the course – the Celtic Cross Spread.
Learning the tarot focuses in detail on the actual process of discovering meaning in the cards. Lessons cover topics such as how to consider one card by itself, how to look for card pairs, and how to create the "story" of a reading.
A convenient reference section contains two pages of information for each card including a picture from the popular Waite deck, a description, keywords, action phrases and suggestions for cards with similar and opposite meanings.

5 Stars Very Useful
This is one of my favorite books for the tarot. Useful! It gives insight into the numerical symbolism and outlines of the meanings. There are charts that outline the major and minor arcana and how to connect different cards- like reinforcing and opposing card values. It also goes into how to create your own spread. It teaches you how to understand the story from the cards. Very basic and easy to work with. I'd recommend this book to anyone starting out with the tarot or who wants to refine their skill. I've used this book for awhile and it's one of the best.
5 Stars Great book to start
This is a great book for a beginner like myself, it covers all the basics and gives you the right advice on almost all aspects of tarot reading.
It is enough to learn the tarot itself, you don't need anymore; and there are enough references in there to chose which books to go and study further if you like.
The only thing it lacks is a commentary on the symbolism of each card itself, otherwise this has to be one of the best books to start with.
4 Stars From a Beginner's Standpoint…
As a beginner, I chose this book because of most of the high reviews and because the title said that the book was for beginners. I like the directions about the daily single card reading and I appreciate the highly-detailed description of each and every tarot card. However, I was a bit disappointed that the only spread that this book covered was the 11-card Celtic Cross(I was looking for more card layout descriptions- not just the Celtic Cros layout) that is mainly why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
5 Stars Excellent Guide
This guide covers it all for the beginner and is also good for those that are more familiar with Tarot cards. It provides an excellent description of each card and insights into how the cards interact. Also included is what the card means when thrown during a reading. I highly recommend this book, especially to those who are just starting their tarot journey.
