Guns and Churches – Bill Passes 1st Stage in Arkansas

In light of recent tragedies, Arkansas lawmakers are considering a bill that would allow folks to obtain permits to carry concealed weapons in church.

Arkansas Online reports that the state House of Representatives approved the measure 57-42 on Wednesday (Feb. 11 2009).   The bill stipulates that churches can decide whether or not they will allow their members to carry concealed weapons, but they must notify parishioners about their decision.
