The NIV is the world's best-selling modern translation, with over 150 million copies in print since its first full publication in 1978. This highly accurate and smooth-reading version of the Bible in modern English has the largest library of printed and electronic support material of any modern translation.

4 Stars Navigation is the problem…
I am specifically discussing the KINDLE version of this Bible. The NIV Bible itself is a 5-star Bible to me. The kindle version, however, has to lose a star due to navigation.
To get to a chapter and verse in the NIV, unless you search on a specific piece of text that you already know in that verse, you have to go through quite a few steps, quite a bit of scrolling and several clicks, to get where you're going. The ESV Study Bible offers a nice little trick, which the NIV does not. With the ESV, they were kind enough to put the titles of each chapter in capital letters next to the chapter number, such as "MARK 5." This allows me to search for "mark 5," then I know that the search item with "MARK 5" in capital letters is the place I need to go. Saves a lot of clicking and time (particularly when I'm in church and trying to get as quickly as possible to where the preacher is reading from). The NIV just has the chapter number at the beginning of the chapter.
I purchased this Bible back in March 2010 when it was $5.99. I also purchased the ESV Study Bible at $9.99. I use the two in tandem, reading the ESV first for Study Bible notes, then referring to the NIV when I don't totally understand what the ESV is saying. I then pop back over to the NIV and footnote my ESV with the NIV translation. This, I find, is not a useless or annoying exercise at all, since it makes me keep God's word in my mind for a few extra moments, rather than just glossing over it. The ESV, by the way, is considered a more literal translation, which for me is less readable.
The NIV Study Bible, by the way, is available on Kindle for $31.99 as of this writing. Someday…
