US Missionaries in Haiti Charged with Kidnapping

In Haiti, 10 US missionaries from an Idaho Baptist Church have been charged with child kidnapping and criminal association. When they arrived at court, the missionaries were confident that "God's will would be done" and that they would be sent back to the United States. The five men and five women are accused of attempting to smuggle dozens of children out of the country and the claims are being investigated by a judge. UNICEF says that whatever they missionaries were trying to do, they were doing it the wrong way because they did not have the correct documentation. Some of the children have parents, but they may have been given up by the parents voluntarily.

They were stopped on the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic last Friday, as Al Jazeera's Craig Mauro reports.
