5 Stars The Jewish Study Bible
I am not Jewish, but a serious Bible Student. My intent when I purchased this Bible was to understand how the Jewish tradition affected the writing of the New Testiment. I found it both informative, and entertaining. I will treasure this work in my extensive Bible collection. I found the footnotes or sidebars critical to my understanding of the work and for providing insight in the traditional Jewish layout and thinking. I would definitely recommend this translation for those seeking to understand our Jewish cousins.

1 Star Presents a liberal perspective on the Bible
This study Bible gives the "standard" liberal perspective on the books of the Bible. It casts doubt upon the authorship of the books and their accuracy. The notes read like they were written by skeptics. If you want a liberal slant on the Bible you may enjoy this Study Bible. If you are a conservative or traditionalist you should probably look elsewhere.

Being relatively new to Bible study, this volume has given clarity to many questions and has shown the range of translations and interpretations. Invaluable, detailed notes for thorough study.

4 Stars Christian appreciation for Jewish Study Bible
This is one of the four versions I use most for sermon preparation. I also used it in seminary for my Hebrew Bible classes. A must for every minister's bookshelf.

5 Stars Jewish Study Bible
I am so happy I bought this book! It is very easy to read, and understand. Although I have not gotten into the notes provided, I plan to read them the next time I re-read it. For now, I enjoy reading the scriptures in what I believe, is their original beauty, without needing others to explain them to me. All though, I believe when I do, it will give me a lot more to think about.

This is the first time I have felt inspired to write a review about a book, If you want to understand the O.T. on you own, I say buy this book.
