Broken Open How Difficult Times Can Help Us Grow

In the more than twenty-five years since she co-founded Omega Institute – now the world's largest center for spiritual retreat and personal growth -Elizabeth Lesser has been an intimate witness to the ways in which people weather change and transition. In a beautifully crafted blend of moving stories, humorous insights, practical guidance, and personal memoir, she offers tools to help us make the choice we all face in times of challenge: Will we be broken down and defeated, or broken open and transformed? Lesser shares tales of ordinary people who have risen from the ashes of illness, divorce, loss of a job or a loved one – stronger, wiser, and more in touch with their purpose and passion. And she draws on the world's great spiritual and psychological traditions to support us as we too learn to break open and blossom into who we were meant to be.

2 Stars Disappointed
If you are purchasing this book to help you through a VERY difficult time, do not bother. It has alot of fluff. It is great for those everyday trying events, but does not hit the mark for an earthshaking event in your life, when you truly ARE broken open.
5 Stars Great book.
This book has helped me out a lot. I think anyone going through a difficult time in their life , should read this book. It will give you a new perspective on life.
5 Stars LIFE SAVING WORDS IN THE GIFT OF A BOOK
Before I started reading this book I was experiencing 24 hour anxiety due to this economy and how it is effecting my lively hood and security. Elizabeth Lessor's words reached my heart and soul and rested my anxiety. I was a little sad when I finished reading it but still felt calmer in looking forward to life. Thank you to her always.

3 Stars Underwhelmed
She makes a good case for pursuing the path of self-awareness, but for those of us already on it, this book is too elementary. Best for beginners on the path to looking inward.
