Politicians and Prayers

A number of Republican members of Congress participated in Tony Perkins' Family Research Council prayer gathering.

Right Wing Watch captured a collage of footage from the "PrayerCast" over health care reform.  After their videos, we've included commentary from Rachel Maddow.

Here's Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann and Lou Engle praying over the "unclean hands and eyes" of those on earth, particularly politicians.

Virginia's Rep. Randy Forbes (Rep.) claims that prayer is important in the shaping of the public policy and that it is a bi-partisan effort. Here he is with Tony Perkins (Family Research Council) and Lou Engle (The Call).

Missouri's Rep. Todd Akin (Republican) explains that the Bible ought to be the blueprint for every aspect of our society, to be applied to all of mankind. (We suggest he spend some time at the Bible Slam and explain why this should be a blueprint.)

Pastor Jim Garlow of the Skyline Church in San Diego explains that the proposed health care legislation violates every single one of the ten commandments.

What's a prayer gathering without James and Shirley Dobson? Here they are, telling us about all the sin on the nation's hands and how it is like Shiloh and cursed unless God intercedes. Abortion, gays and politicians are destroying hope for America, according to James. He wants God to "restore us as one nation under God."

And here's Rachel, commenting on the Republicans and their participation in the PrayerCast.
