Religion and Politics – Faith Determines Political Party

Gallup published a new poll that indicates that religion plays a role in political party membership.

The survey results indicated that "Republicans outnumber Democrats by 12 percentage points among Americans who are classified as highly religious, while Democrats outnumber Republicans by 30 points among those who are not religious." The survey also found that Black Americans are highly Democratic, regardless of their religiosity.

The poll, which was conducted in November, was based on 29,192 interviews.
