Led by Moses, the people make it to the promised land of Canaan and Moses sends spies to the land to check it out. They travel for 40 days within the land and along the way, discover gigantic grapes, pomegranates and figs. The grapes are so huge that it takes two men to carry a cluster of them.
The spies also discover giants who are so tall that comparatively speaking, the Israelites are about the size of grasshoppers compared with them. They claim that because of the giants' size and strength, there is no way that the Israelites can overpower them and take over the land.

Discussion Points.
A leader of each of the tribes was sent as a scout. As Skeptics Annotated points out, it is unclear whether there were twelve or thirteen tribes of Israel, and there are discrepancies about the names of the tribes throughout the Bible.
Numbers 13 says that amongst the giants were the sons of Anak, the descendants of the intermingling of the sons of god and daughters of earth. Giants were allegedly wiped out during the flood.
