Save Me from Myself How I Found God Quit Korn Kicked Drugs and Lived to Tell My Story
The incredible story of a controversial rock star, his secret addiction to methamphetamines, and his miraculous salvation through Jesus Christ. Candid and inspiring, Save Me from Myself is a rock 'n' roll journey unlike any other.
5 Stars Wife enjoys book as much as husband.
I bought the book as a gift for my husband, and I read it as well. My hubby isn't usually much of a reader, but he is captivated by this book, as was I. It's easy to read and pretty straightforward, holding nothing back. Being Christians ourselves, it's always interesting to hear testimonies on how others were led to Christ.
5 Stars Review of Save Me From Myself
Being a skeptic, when reading a book like this I am always wondering in the back of my mind how much of the story is sensationalized to make the story sound good. This is not the case in this book. This book is real, truthful, sometimes sad and most importantly written from the heart. It is fascinating. This is a very in depth look at the life of Brian Welch from his childhood days and family life growing up through his days as a rock star battling his addictions to drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, anger and the love of money. The book also details about how drugs and his behavior destroyed the relationship with Rebekah, his girlfriend and the mother of his child. This is a great book to explain the mental and physical patterns of addictions. After failing to quit drugs time after time after time it was a true and authentic relationship with God that saved him from all these addictions.
In short this book showed me (and will show you) that if this guy can overcome his shortfalls and demons (and as you will read there are many)that there is hope for the rest of us all.
5 Stars great book – must read!
This is a great story; Brian tells you in his own words how he found God and what God has done for him. The story is so much more meaningful because Brian doesn't pull any punches about his drug use and the rock and roll lifestyle. He shows his love for his daughter and how that love helped him find God. Great story for anyone who doesn't know anything about Christianity – it explains in plain language what it's all about. No preachy language, just a pure story from Brian's own perspective.
3 Stars Thanks Brian
I just finished reading this book, and I thank God for Brian's salvation. But he's got a lot of maturing in the Christian faith ahead of him. He's really confused on some basics of the Christian faith!
He admits his own confusion about baptism which he says washed away his sins. Wrong!
He says that speaking in tongues is the main way we strengthen our faith. Wrong! The main way we strengthen our faith is by reading the Bible. Romans 10:17, "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ."
He says that God led him to get tattoos. Wrong! The Bible commands us not to tattoo or pierce ourselves. Leviticus 19:28, "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord."
He says that God led him to quit attending church. He's absolutely wrong!!! Hebrews 10:25 says, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some (Brian and his so-called "prophets") are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another- and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Zeal for God's house consumed Jesus Christ, and it will consume committed Christians. Ephesians 4:11ff. say, It was He (Jesus Christ) who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body (church) of Christ may be built up…" It's the demons of hell that don't want us attending church (Luke 8:29).
Brian needs to quit listening to his emotions, his feelings, his heart, his dreams, his demons and his false prophets who are using him for his money. He needs to start listening to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit who speak to us through God's Word, the Bible. Jesus said, "If you love Me, you will obey My commandments."
Keep praying for Brian!
5 Stars Wonderful!
