Controversial Rabbi Creates Uproar With Book

Al Jazeera's Jacky Rowland reports that Arab members of Israel's parliament have called for the banning of a controversial book written by a Jewish rabbi in which he appears to authorize the killing of non-Jews, including children, who pose a threat to Israel.

While many rabbis dismiss Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira's book, some prominent rabbis have recommended it to their students and followers.

The book, called the King's Torah, includes religious text from the Talmud to which the rabbi has added his personal interpretations and views about killing non-Jews who represent active and potential threats to Israel.

  1. These extreme viewpoints will only lead to continuing the cycle of violence and they will never escape, year after year, both sides miserable. What foolishness.
