Dietary restrictions are given to the Hebrews — most of which are not practiced by Christians today. These rules are still honored by the Jews.
We are introduced to some interesting species, including bird bats, four-legged creeping birds, cud-chewing rabbits and four-legged insects.
Not only are the people not to eat certain birds, animals and fish, but they are not to touch their dead carcasses. Numerous instructions are given about pots, water containers and seeds that may have been "defiled" by these unclean animals.

Discussion Points.
How Did Noah Know? When Noah supposedly got off the ark, he sacrificed some "clean" animals. How did he know what was clean and what was unclean back then if God is just now giving these commands? Because he immediately killed off some animals, Noah apparently made some "clean" species extinct.
Why Do Christians Ignore Bible Teaching? More importantly, why do Christians who insist that the Bible is "the inerrant Word of God" not follow these instructions? Failing to honor the commands about animal sacrifices is one thing, particularly since they believe that Jesus' sacrifice reversed the old testament animal sacrifice laws; however, what is the excuse to ignore God's dietary commands? Pork, shellfish, and rabbit are regularly eaten by Bible-believing Christians.
Inerrent Word of God? If this book is indeed factual and without error, why does it contain statements about hares that chew their cuds and four-legged birds? Don't believe it? Read the King James version at Skeptics Annotated Bible.
