The Shariyat Ki Sugmad Book I Discover the Ancient Scriptures of Gods Love For You

"Eckankar…its simplicity, once grasped, is staggering to the intellect." The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad means "Way of the Eternal." These writings are the scriptures of Eckankar, Religion of the Light and Sound of God. Though they're possibly the oldest teachings known on earth, they speak to you directly – today. They come alive in your heart. Through The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad you will discover an answer to every human question ever yet, or to be, devised. Its pages tell what life really consists of and how to live it. Eckankar is ancient wisdom for today. Its teachings, which resurfaced in 1965, emphasize the value of personal experiences as the most natural way back to God. Whatever your religious background, they show how to look and listen within yourself – to expand your consciousness and enjoy spiritual connectedness. See for yourself – perhaps for the first time – how to lead a happy, balanced, and productive life. And put daily concerns into loving perspective.
5 Stars Essential ECK guide for all Eckists
I must admit, this book is good, very good. The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad book one, is a totally unique presentation of the microcosm and it's understanding is essential before taking on The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad book two, which offers a totally unique presentation of the macrocosm. Excellent books of one of the world's most successful new age religions. Highly recommended!!!!
2 Stars Some Eternal Truths Embedded in High Fiction
Paul Twitchell was a well-read genius that started his own religion which looks like a compilation of several others. Indeed there are many sites on the net that show where Paul had 'lifted' some of his works from elsewhere. That said, I found it interesting from a sort of fictional point of view to see what such a mastermind could come up with. I found the reading of this 'sacred' scripture rather boring and repetative though.
The warm side of the story is how he defines the qualities of Eck – wisdom, freedom and power. The barriers of the mind to be overcome are lust, greed, anger, attachment and vanity. Occasionally he gives some experiential insight as to why people follow orthodox religions and the mystery schools. My favorite part of this cosmology is where you can rise above these physical planes to become a co-worker with God. It reminds my of Saviors of God by Nikos Kazantzakis.
Twitchell writes "The right act is the act which… brings the greatest good to the greatest number of people" is better stated by L. Ron Hubbard who finishes the thought with "greatest number of dynamics." Dynamics have to do with the survival of people, but also all life forms and this planet.
I plan on reading the second in this series just for the sake of personal research. It hasn't been very fun, and I prefer the fiction of Frank Herbert in Dune or anything by Tolkein. At least they are fun!
Here are some unusual statements by Twitchell that will give you a taste of the 'religion' of Eckankar.
page 64 "Unless he believes in the Mahanta, has faith in the ECK, and trusts the Sugmad completely, he has spent his time worthlessly."
111 "The ECK enters the womb of a virgin… starts its unfoldment over a period of years… then the chosen one learns that he is the Living Eck Master of his times."
116 "The Living Eck Master embraces all of humanity because he is the only channel that can do so. Certainly none of the ancients could do this…"
127 "If he questions or argues with the teachers of Eck over points in the spiritual works, he has not advanced on the path. The questioner, or seeker, must learn to control his curiosity."
130 "The holy fire of Eck is principally the love of God which has taken over the person who has surrendered himself to the Living Eck Master… The word surrender may be insufficient."
148 "Whosoever passes from his own physical body shall have heavenly awards if he whispers at the time of his passing the name of the Mahanta. Should he not be conscious at the time of his death, whoever is with him can perform the rites by whispering the name of the Mahanta."
151 " The chela has security when he is accepted by the Living Eck Master. In order to understand the Living Eck Master, stop talking, stop thinking, stop analyzing him and his worldly actions, and then you will understand all things."
152 "He must have the dominating faith that to serve the cause of Eck is the only purpose of his life. There is little need to seek truth, just stop having views."
161 "Those who keep themselves far away from Eck will not succeed to the higher levels of the spiritual worlds."
163 "Whatever the Mahanta gives him in secret through the channels of the inward self, he shall keep secret and not speak of to anyone else.. those who do shall have to pay in some manner or other."
196 "He cares little for what happens to his human body… (or) if all things in his material world are taken away. If he loses everything but himself, nothing matters but the spreading of the message of Eck."
214 "The mission of the Mahanta on this earth is to stir the millions of noninitiated into revolt against all orthodox religions. Anyone who opposes the Mahanta in any of the worlds is foolish for the Eck will swiftly work in retribution."
228 "He will suffer in body and spirit the taunts and insults of life around him…reduced in social and human stature… reviled, spat upon, and hated for the spiritual light he carries with him."
Two Stars – I'm feeling generous
1 Star Blind leading the blind
This book should have been written in brail.
Klemps followers are obviously blind to the fact that he's a new-age fruit cake meets genius entrepreneur, who's making a crap load of money off poor spiritually starved and illiterate souls who buy his books and tapes.
5 Stars WONDERFUL INSIGHTS
To me, this is pure gold. It resonates in its striking truths, and if we're ready for them, we sense the authentic power in both the Shariyats (volumes one and two). It's pretty deep stuff, actually, but if you harmonize with it, then no more needs to be said. Suggestion: Simply read with the open golden heart, not the analytical mind.
Also, possibly Stranger by the River or In my Soul I am Free could be better starting points into Paul's spiritual focus. A whole new life for you?
1 Star deception is ancient
I've read this book quite a number of times, unfortunately, and it is the same misleading junk that so many "spiritual leaders" put out when they find themselves short of cash and think a book is a good idea. Paul Twitchell is someone who has been lost in time and lost to his own myth. No one has said who the "real man" was–it is all twisted up in what they thought he was, and what they demanded that he be. I think even he didn't know the truth anymore. He wrote many many books and had many insigtful and intelligent things to say. But this book is not one of them. It is so crammed with the usual cult messages and the author's confusing himself with God that whatever "truth" is there has to fished out with a fine-toothed comb. He declared that this book was to be the "bible" of Eckankar and it's formal, hectoring tone and judgemental style is in alignment with that. For anyone who has joined the membership of Eckankar it is required reading. And it sets a depressing tone for what is to follow: you must obey the "Eck Master" and never ask questions about….anything! It is really almost funny. I would never recommend this book to anyone. It is a kind of meandering and obscure treatise that some "higher power" is channeling down to Paul Twitchell, with few applications to the real world. Odd how it comes out sounding like it was done by just some ordinary Joe Blow for his growing group of worshipful fans.
I'm sorry Paul I know how difficult your life was. My empathy for you is real, but I can't condone some of your more blatent silliness.
