This chapter gives us some rules about what is unclean and, of course, there are a bunch of animal sacrifices that have to be done as atonement ceremonies by the priest to rectify the uncleanliness. Sins done through ignorance or sins that a person commits against his will also have to be atoned with animal sacrifices.

Discussion Points.
Basically, life is just one great big sin in this chapter — you're guilty if you sin on purpose, if you sin against your will, or if you sin and don't know you sinned. The cure is to have unblemished rams, lambs, turtledoves or pigeons killed by the priest. You can give flour as a sin offering, so long as there is no oil or frankincense mixed in it.
People who do the following are guilty, according to Leviticus 5:1-4, which provides a veritable smorgasbord of sinful, unclean activities:
- Touching an unclean beast;
- Touching the carcass of unclean cattle;
- Touching the carcass of unclean creepy things (i.e., insects);
- Touching the uncleanliness of man (huh?);
- Swearing to do something evil; and
- Swearing to do something good.
