Religious News Verses: Prayer, Hate and Christmas

Dr. Cornell Haan, described in his press release as "one of the world's leading experts in prayer," has started a social network called Prayer Planet. According to the press release:

Dr. Haan is the cofounder of The Presidential Prayer Team established to garner prayer support for President Bush after 9/11. Now, in addition to praying for the President, PrayerPlanet.net offers multiple prayer team options such as praying for our schools and churches, the war in Afghanistan, the global economy, healthcare reform, the H1N1 virus, and many other topics. People can join existing prayer teams as well as set up their own prayer page with friends and family members.

As of this writing, the top trend on PrayerPlanet is health care reform.

Christians hate the hate crimes legislation. Dr. Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission warns that:

"The Christian Anti-Defamation Commission will soon be announcing its plans, along with other leading pro-family groups, to defy, counter and challenge this unconstitutional attack on our religious liberty."

It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation for a small town in Michigan when it comes to the "War on Christmas." According to the American Family Association's One News Now, the Town of Warren denied a permit to place a nativity scene on public property over fears of a lawsuit from the Freedom from Religion Foundation after it had received a letter about separation of church and state. The town had permitted the religious scene for the previous 63 years. Now, the town is being sued in federal court by the Thomas More Law Center, on behalf of Warren city resident John Satawa, for refusing to issue the permit.
