About three quarters of Sweden's population says that it is Lutheran, but church attendance is very low.
The BBC reports that Lutheran Church of Sweden will allow its priests to to perform same sex marriages beginning next month. Priests have a choice — they will not be forced to perform same sex marriages.
Sweden is the fifth European country to recognize same sex marriage. Others include the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Norway.
