For more than half a century, Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood has survived everything their government has thrown at it, from being banned in the 1950s to having hundreds of its members imprisoned today.
The latest threat to the Muslim Brotherhood, appears to be coming from within. For the first time in its history, news of internal divisions among the group's leadership have leaked out to Egypt's media. Part of the conflict has to do with whether the group identifies itself as a religious group, a reform movement, or a political party.
The Muslim Brotherhood is Egypt's strongest opposition group. With upcoming parliamentary elections and the presidential election in 2011, the group's internal fighting may diminish its political influence.
