The building activities continue to be narrated in this chapter. Taxes are collected from 600,355 men aged 20 and up. By the time it's said and done, tons of gold, brass and silver are used to construct the tabernacle.
Thousands of pounds — tons — of gold, silver and brass are used to adorn the tabernacle. Yet, this is a nomadic tribe searching for the "land of milk and honey." How on earth did they move their relics around?
As noted in the King James version of Chapter 38, as annotated by Skeptics Annotated Bible, the Israelites reproduced at a fantastic rate:
Seventy people (Genesis 46:27, Exodus 1:5) became several million in just a few generations Exodus 6:18, 20; 7:7).
We are told back in Exodus 12:37 that 600,000 men (not counting women and children) left Egypt. Given the starting number of just 70, and assuming a 1:1 ratio of men to women, each woman would need to have an average of 51.6 children with no infant mortality. This means that each would have to be constantly pregnant from ages 15-40 with twins.
