The Love Dare

The Love Dare

Too many marriages end when someone says "I've fallen out of love with you" or "I don't love you anymore." The Love Dare discusses how these statements reveal a lack of understanding about the fundamental nature of true love.

As featured in the popular new movie Fireproof, from the team that brought us the #1 best selling DVD Facing the Giants, The Love Dare is a 40-day guided devotional experience that will lead your heart back to truly loving your spouse while learning more about the design, nature, and source of true love. Each reading includes Scripture, a statement of principle, the day's "dare," and a journaling area and check box to chart progress.

Dare to take The Love Dare, and see your marriage change forever.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars The book is better than the movie
After watching the movie I did feel the emotional connection but I was interupted with the poor acting. The book was completely opposite of that; there was so much emotion. The book helped me connect my thoughts and give meaning to them through God's word. I found the book very easy to read. My marriage of 8 years was greatly declining but with the help of this book (and counseling) and our new understanding of committment and unconditional love, we have the rest of our lives to enjoy eachother's love and be grateful and happy.

4 Stars The Love Dare
This book is perfect for all married couples to read, especially with the high rate of divorce in our day and time.

The movie Fireproof is based off this novel, so if you do not like to read then I suggest watching the movie. Either way, it will hit home if you are in a relationship.

The novel lets all couples get more in depth with "the love dare" reading each dare as it is presented in the novel, with a page for you to write your comments down in. Great tool for any struggling couples.

The movie does not portray all dares, but it still leaves you with the concept of what marriage should be.

Great novel and great movie.

5 Stars Marriage the way God intended
This book truly helps couples (like my wife and I) see how far our modern day superficial marriages fall short of the Biblical pattern of marriage. There is huge need for this book, because there is such a lack of male spiritual leadership in today's marriages. Many husbands are busy fulfilling selfish desires with internet pornography, sports, success, money, etc., while neglecting their wives and children. I am told by God in His Word (Ephesians 5:25) to love my wife as Christ loves His church. This means to love her sacrificially to the point of giving my life up for her if necessary, because she is a God-given treasure. This book is great for men and women, but for all the husbands out there, I challenge you to be a real man of character and integrity, get your heart right with God by repenting of your sin and trusting in Christ, and start loving your wife and children the way God intended. The only way our 10 year marriage has been able to last is because God was gracious in saving us from our sin. He transformed our hearts, and gave us a Christ-centered marriage. No matter what the world tries to tell you or sell you, there is only one way to run a marriage, and that is with Christ as the boss.

4 Stars Good book
Do not judge a book by its cover. In this case go ahead! its a nice cover and a nice book!

5 Stars Good for married couples, best for those that aren't married yet
I'm a 20-year old college student who is not even close to getting married. It's not that I'm opposed to it or that I want to put it off until a later age either. The main reason is that the relationships I see around me are just not capable of the long term like marriage should be. Basically, as this book points out, relationships are gotten into these days for the wrong reasons (for lust, convenience, etc., etc) and they cannot possibly succeed in finding the kind of connection necessary for the long-term.

While this book is good, I think it is a better perspective to gain before you get married. In a lot of ways, this book encourages people to rethink their current relationships in the service of finding a lasting love. And that is all good and well. But the advice is much better received for younger people who haven't gotten married yet, for those who are still trying to figure out what they want in a relationship, and for htose who haven't already made a commitment.

If you have read any CS Lewis and in particular, the Four LovesThe Four Loves, this will ring a bell. I am also reminded on a short book by ER Morse called Love is JusticeLove Is Justice: An Exploration into Mankind's Fundamental Nature. The notion with all of these is that only with a confident look at God can you look at others–you must first be in love with God before you can truly love another person.
