Rick Santorum in speech to NRA: 2nd Amendment rights are "God given" and speaks of American exceptionalism

In a sixteen minute speech delivered to the NRA yesterday, Rick Santorum said that the 2nd Amendment is a "God given" right, and praised the NRA as "warriors" defending the US Constitution.  He said that "rights come from God because you are a creation of a loving God, and you have dignity because of that."   Santorum, in an attempt to reinforce the idea of American exceptionalism, compared America, the Constitution and freedom of religion with Europe, calling Europe a "secular, dying culture" with no rights other than the ones "the government decides to give."

Santorum called the voters who elected and re-elected Barack Obama "a coalition,a small minority” that has “infiltrated all these elite institutions.”

The former Pennsylvania Senator also claimed that President Obama is “trying to erode who we are,” and gun control activists “freely admit” that the current gun legislation that failed would not have stopped the Sandy Hook shootings that killed 20 children and six adults.

Santorum spent much of his speech launching an offensive against President Barack Obama, “whose vision for America unfortunately has been running wild for two centuries in Europe.” Santorum attacked France a lot, too, and compared the French Revolution to the American war for independence.

Santorum claimed that France’s culture “is a secular culture, it is a dying culture," inferring that American culture can only survive under the influence of a fundamentalist God.

He also assailed the Left for pointing to Europe’s gun control laws as successful, noting their freedom of speech laws are not as broad as America’s.

Santorum repeated the Internet rumor that proseltyzing in the military is banned by the government (it isn't), and that the government is "going after" chaplains in the military (they aren't).

CNN notes that Santorum plans to travel to the Iowa State Fair in August, and he is not ruling out another bid for the Presidency.

Than you rick. In our unfree Europe we have the right to believe what we want and we do not force schools to teach religious opinions in SCIENCE classes.

To make matters worse: In some European countries like Switzerland people do own FULLY AUTOMATIC weapons.. .take this Rick: Fully Automated Assault Rifles. And yet; they don't shoot the crap out of each other. Must be de European Decandence.

BTW, this Decadent European Democracies sing-song was the favourite of a certain guy with moustache who also believed to be favoured by god ("Got mit uns!") and was extremely fond of gas chambers and invading the hell out of neighbouring countries.

So Rick, what about your sub 2 hours marathon? Are you training for running the Badwater Ultra Marathon in under 30 minutes? Ah, you already did? Don't worry Flash I'm not going to disclose your secret identity… oh, wait… sorry mate… Please editor, can you remove this?

No way are we going to remove this! Well said, sir! Santorum knows less about the world around him despite his three degrees than an ostrich with its head in a hole. Which is why the American people, bless them, were smart enough not to elect the twit.
