Margie Phelps and Shirley Phelps-Roper announced via Twitter less than a day after the shooting of 27 people, 20 of them children, that the Westboro Baptist Church will be picketing the funerals of the victims. The announcement was followed by a series of tweets about the shooting blaming gays for the attack, the first from Shirley Phelps-Roper:
Westboro will picket Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment.
Fred Phelps, Jr. added:
It's so true that #godsenttheshooter to CT. Watch the video so named at #godhatesfagsdotcom! Or #signmoviesdotcom!
The announcement has been met with public outrage, as well as on social media, and the group Anonymous has been swift to reply to Westboro, publishing private information about many Westboro members including email addresses, phone numbers, and private addresses. A video released by KY Anonymous states:
We will not allow you to corrupt the minds of America with your seeds of hatred. We will not allow you to inspire aggression to the social factions which you deem inferior. We will render you obsolete. We will destroy you. We are coming.

The video also says they are desecrating the name of God by disseminating hatred, and of using their faith to promote their hatred.
Westboro recently won their Supreme Court case allowing them to picket military funerals . Currently, the following has been being passed around Facebook in an effort to protect the families during the funerals:
