Catholic Church Looks to Alternate Media to Boost Church Attendance


A Catholic diocese in New York is faced with a problem experienced by churches nationwide: A decline in attendance.

To try to attract young people to the church, one diocese is looking at alternative media that appeals to the younger generation. It is using social networking as part of its outreach and producing MTV style music videos.

The church is also faced with budget shortfalls. Not only are less people going to mass, but those who do attend are not giving as much due to the economy.
