The church upgraded its technology to provide live streaming video and archived services. The online service gives people who might be bedridden, simply curious, or out of state a chance to experience what the church offers.

This is very interesting. I can see some very good benefits to having service online while there are certainly some downfalls. It's definitely good for the things you mentioned: people who might be bedridden, simply curious, or out of state. But I think one of the most important things about going to a church service is the fellowship and the human interaction. Very interesting though.
I think you're right, Bernina. I suspect that many churchgoers are motivated to attend, in part, for the social interaction.
