Suspected Criminal Made False Claims to Catholic Priesthood

A man arrested in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, for computer luring of a minor allegedly made false claims that he is a Catholic priest.

Father Frank Cosgrove of Meridian's Catholic community said the claim especially concerned him. Cosgrove wanted to stress that Christopher Shelton, who was arrested on Thursday, has no connection at all with St. Patrick or St. Joseph Catholic churches. He never was a Catholic church and in fact, is not even Catholic.

Cosgrove admonished believers to pray for both the victim and the alleged perpetrator.
