5 Stars Partial Answers to Essential Questions
A volume like this can only make a good deep scratch the surface of established science dogmas and partly reveal their hollow cores. The book raises and begins to answer some of the more interesting questions about origins. It succeeds in raising significant doubt about the non-creationist explanations and whets the appetite of any honestly curious reader to dig for more. The answers proposed are a mixture of selected scientific facts, Biblical quotations, and interesting conjecture. It is far more complete than earlier attemts at Answer Books by Mr. Ham and his colleagues.

Questions of origin are important; they intersect with the essential questions of the meaning of life, core worldviews, and spiritual reality. If there is a danger with this kind of book it is that it provides only overviews rather than exhaustive responses based on current research and thinking. Some readers may conclude that the partial answers are all there is and therefore the creationist viewpoint is still thin on substance. In fact, it is growing in substance and credibility every day. The book provides some reference to more detailed works, though a more complete bibliography and set of links to more in-depth sources would be beneficial.

The book seems to be targeted at thoughtful young people, and would make a good gift to help a teenager resist the indoctrination awaiting him in the high school and college classroom. It is a thought-provoking read, however, for adults as well, particularly those who need to be deprogrammed from evolutionary junk science.

2 Stars Hopefully Volume 2 is Better?
A lot of people have given this book poor reviews just because the name Ken Ham has been attached. Evolutionists may dislike Intelligent Design, but they want to murder Creationism with every bone in their collective bodies. This is why you see reviews (on sites like Amazon) that have less of reviewing and more of the ranting/raving. I want to subtract all of this to give an honest, balanced review.

First, this book is not for Evolutionists, and thus, is not a true "answers book". This book is entirely made by Christians for Creationists. I wouldn't expect any Evolutionist to agree with 70% of what's said in the text. Why? Because most of the authors start out with, shocker! the Bible. Now for me, as a Christian, I have no problem with this. However, as a studying apologist, I think Ken Ham often confuses his target audiences. I would only argue that there is about 30% non-biased scientific Evidence (I.e., evidence you could use in a Bible-less debate). I would've preferred that the Bible be defended BEFORE using it in authoritative manners.

Second, this book not only plays like an old record, but seems to be poorly organized. For example, chapters 2,3,5 deal entirely with Theistic Evolution, with the rest of the chapters highly referencing said theory. While I have nothing against the argument's that are used, they could've been summarized all into one chapter. As it stands, by the time you reach the end, you feel like you're being preached to, not dialogued with. The book, as a whole, feels highly disorganized and with no general purpose. The first and last chapters alone are organized well.

Let me summarize with this: because of the lack of pure, scientific evidence (there is some, but clearly not enough) and the constant dead horse of Theistic Evolution make this a frustrating read. Personally, the fact that it kept on talking about Genesis 101 stuff made it quite boring for me as a Christian. I got to learn about the Ark and how the human race got started!!! Yipee!!! I have to ask myself, who will really benefit from this book? Not Evolutionists and not a good portion of Christians.

If you didn't like this book, like me, don't take it out on Ken ham or AiG. Everyone is entitled to a crappy book once in a while.

Hopefully Answers Volume II is better.

5 Stars Awesome book to help answer your questions on Creation!
I was given this book for my high school graduation, and now I give it out to others! It helped build my faith very much, to help me realize that believing in God isn't just out of "blind faith". We have a God who is logical, who wants us to have a thinking faith. And there are a lot of reasons why Creation makes sense; not JUST because God said so in the Bible. He even says in the Psalms that He gives evidence for Creation in the world… We can study and be amazed by our AWESOME GOD and what He created!!

And evolutionists: please have some respect for Creationists. We are not stupid or uneducated (I am tired of hearing people say this). I am almost done with a Masters degree in Nursing, and the more I learn about how intricate the human body is, the more I believe that we are wonderfully designed! We have a Creator who pieced every part of us together; there is no way, for example, that the eye could have just "evolved". It is far too complex; lose one part and it doesn't function; therefore it has no purpose. Also, tell me when you last saw a bird with 1/2 wings developed?!?! Either an animal has wings and they are fully functional (either swimming or flying), or they don't. Anything in between would be detrimental to the bird's life; they would be easier prey to predators.

So please, have some respect. Creationism IS science. We just believe that God started it all, rather than just random chance. (which is like someone happening to type up an encyclopedia by chance; the human body is much more complex than a book however!!!)
