Members of the Springfield Baptist Church in downtown Augusta, GA, have been celebrating the 225th anniversary of their church all week.
The city unveiled a new street name — Springfield Way — honoring the church. Al Sharpton was there to give the keynote address at the ceremony.
The historic church building is said to be the oldest African American church in the country that is still standing in its original location. It was founded in 1787.
